The Database Publishing Service (DPS) and Database Publishing Wizard (DPW) are a set of tools that enable direct publishing of a SQL Server database from a client computer to a hosted database within the shared environment. Databases are published as batches of SQL script files using your database credentials. Any actions you have permissions to perform in the Query Analyzer can be done using the DPS and DPW features.

Database Publishing Service
The DPS is a Web service that we, as your your hosting provider, offer. Unlike many other hosting providers, we have customized our DPS for our hosting environment.
Database Publishing Wizard
The DPW is a desktop client developed by Microsoft® that has not been customized specifically for your system. You must download and run this application locally.

These two components work together, allowing you to publish a complete SQL Server database from your local machine to a hosted server. The advantage of the DPS and DPW is that they simplify the database publishing process, eliminating the need for you to manually create and execute a large number of SQL scripts. These tools also provide right-click integration with Visual Studio.

For additional information about the Database Publishing Service and the Database Publishing Wizard, see Publishing a Database Using the Database Publishing Wizard.

Also, you can obtain additional information and detail at the manufacturer's site on the Database Publishing Wizard product page.
