Why do You Need a Phone Number to Process My Certified Domain Application?

We use the phone number you provide to place an automated telephone call, which must be completed for us to issue a Certified Domain seal for your domain. Along with the domain authorization and fraud screening processes, the phone verification helps ensure that domains indeed can be trusted.

We do not allow the following types of phone numbers for the telephone verification step:

  • Pre-paid mobile numbers
  • Toll-free numbers
  • Restricted numbers (including numbers that start with "0")
  • Numbers with the following area codes:
    • 411
    • 900
    • 911
  • Non-fixed VoIP numbers
