Partitioning a Windows Dedicated Server with Two Hard Drives

To use all of the space on your dedicated Windows server, you need to partition the hard drive on your server and select an appropriate file system.

To Partition a Dedicated Server With Two Hard Drives

  1. Log in to your server using Remote Desktop Connection and open the Windows Control Panel (i.e., from the Start Menu, select Control Panel).
  2. Select Administrative Tools.
  3. Select Computer Management.
  4. In the tree on the left, click Disk Management. If the Initialize and Convert Disk Wizard opens, click Cancel.
  5. Right click on Disk 1.
  6. Select Initialize Disk. The Initialize Disk window opens. Click OK.
  7. Right click on Unallocated Partition.
  8. Select New Partition. The New Partition Wizard displays. Click Next.
  9. Select Primary Partition and accept the default size for your partition.
  10. Assign a drive letter for your new partition.
  11. To start formatting your partition, click Next.
