You can establish a more professional identity for your WordPress.com blog by configuring it to point to one of the domains you registered through us. Instead of entering your WordPress.com URL to view your latest blog entry, visitors enter your domain URL. For example, by mapping your coolexample.wordpress.com blog to your www.coolexample.com domain, visitors focus solely on your domain.

NOTE: WordPress.com charges a fee for mapping your blog to your domain. To continue with this procedure, you need to purchase the domain mapping service through WordPress.com.

To point your WordPress.com blog to your domain, first purchase domain mapping from WordPress.com. Then update the settings in your WordPress.com and Domain Manager, as follows:

  • Set your domain's nameservers to use WordPress.com nameservers. You set your nameservers through the Domain Manager to ns1.wordpress.com, ns2.wordpress.com, and ns3.wordpress.com.
  • Select your domain through WordPress.com.

To Set Your Nameservers

  1. Log in to your Account Manager.
  2. In the My Products section, click Domain Manager.
  3. Use the checkbox to select the domain you want to use with your WordPress.com blog, and then click Nameservers.
  4. Select Custom Nameservers.
  5. In the Nameserver 1, 2, and 3 fields, type ns1.wordpress.com, ns2.wordpress.com, and ns3.wordpress.com.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Click OK again.

NOTE: You cannot select your blog through WordPress.com until your nameservers resolve, which takes up to 72 hours.

To Select Your Domain Through WordPress.com

  1. Log in to your WordPress.com account.
  2. Go to the Settings tab.
  3. Go to the Domains tab.
  4. In the Add a Domain field, enter your domain name.
  5. Click Add domain to blog.
  6. In the domain list, click the Put blog here hyperlink for the domain to which you want to direct your blog.
