You can forward your parked domain to an existing Web site. When visitors go to the domain you forwarded, their Web browser automatically forwards them to the URL you specified.

For example, you own onecoolexample.com and want people who visit it to be redirected to coolexample.net.

NOTE: You can only forward parked domains using this procedure, which we automatically park when you register them with us. If your domain isn't parked, you must update your A record through Total DNS. For more information about parking domains, see Setting Nameservers for Your Domain. For more information about updating A records, see Creating A Records.

You can also add masking to your forwarded domains, which prevents the forwarded domain URL from displaying in the browser's address bar. If you set up masking, you specify a title and meta tags to assist with ranking your Web site on search engines. For more information about masking domains, see Masking Your Domain.

To Forward a Domain

  1. Log in to your Account Manager.
  2. In the My Products section, click Domain Manager.
  3. Use the checkbox(es) to select the domain name(s) you want to modify.
  4. Click Forward.
  5. Select Enable forwarding.
  6. In the Forward to field, enter the URL to which you want to forward your domain name(s).
  7. In the Redirect type area, select one of the following:
    301 Moved Permanently
Redirects to the site you specified in the Forward To field using a "301 Moved Permanently" HTTP response. The HTTP 301 response code tells user-agents (including search engines) that the location has permanently moved.
    302 Found (Temporary Redirect)
Redirects to the site you specified in the Forward To field using a "302 Found" HTTP response. The HTTP 302 response code tells user-agents (including search engines) that the location has temporarily moved.
  8. Click OK.

NOTE: Forwarded domains can take up to 24 hours to become active.
