Mirror Web pages are identical pages located at different domain names. While there are legitimate reasons to operate mirror pages, doing so for the purpose of boosting search engine traffic is generally considered spamming. The most blatant way to abuse mirror pages is to submit both sites to the same engine(s). All of the Internet's leading search engines attempt to weed out duplicate content from their indices, as such content may hurt the quality of the search engines' search results.

If mirror pages are detected, search engines may — and usually will — remove at least one of the pages.
