Setting goals for your Web site in Site Analytics helps you determine if your pages flow in a logical order. Setting goals is particularly helpful if you are trying to sell products. When setting goals, you identify the final destination page, or goal, and you create a pathway of up to eight pages that leads to the goal page. Once the goals and the pathways are created, you can track their success using the reporting features of Site Analytics.

To Create a Goal

  1. Log in to your Site Analytics account.
  2. From the Settings menu, select Goals.
  3. From the Select a goal list select New goal.
  4. In the Goal Name field, enter a name for the goal. We recommend using names that are descriptive and easy to remember.
  5. In the Goal Page field, enter the full URL for your destination page, for example, http://www.coolexample.com/buyproduct.
  6. In the Page 1 field, enter the full URL for the entry page of your goal, for example, http://www.coolexample.com/home.
  7. In the remaining Page fields, enter the full URL for each page, in order, that leads your visitors from the entry page to the destination page.
  8. Click OK.

NOTE: URLs are case sensitive.
